Sidekick Girl

Saving the City: Sans-Spandex

We have decided to move to an every other week schedule from now until the end of the year. We’ve been struggling to get back to once a week on time comics with everything that’s been going on, between one or both of us on overtime, the season for our nonprofit ramping up, and general brain fatigue.  Because, you know, 2020.

There will be a comic this coming Wednesday (9/30) and then every other week after that, with filler during November as per usual.

such severe abuses...

Comic!

Yes, there are other characters called Mr Invisible.  Don’t worry about it.

There’s a movie called Mr.Invisible. Is there a comic book character?

Who is Captain Karma??? Is it the person Val and Hazel are speaking to or someone else that Mr.Invisible gave a broken neck to?

Gonna guess that the girls are Captain Karma and Neckbreak, and the guy is Mr. Invisible.

Possibly Mr. Invisible because he seems to be getting ignored in panel 4. Just some subtlety that I think I see in his expression and the eye placement of the woman he appears to be talking to, plus what looks like the “Oh, I-” hand.

Captain Karma and Neckbreak could be either Haze or Val. “Karma comes ’round to bite you in the ass” and “Break Neck Speed”, or vice versa with Hazel being such a sweetie and Val’s crazy healing that would let her come back from a broken neck.

I think Jaybird has come pretty close to nailing it. My guess is, he was a superhero academy classmate of the girls, and those were private nicknames. Neckbreak could be Val, especially if that’s how she discovered the extent of her healing powers….by recovering from a broken neck. I don’t think Val actually broke anybody’s neck herself (that would become part of a tragic backstory and would have possibly bumped her classification up to “hero”, don’cha know?) Accident? Villain incursion? There’s got to be a story behind this.

Breakneck will be Haze due to speed. Val is “Captain Karma” probably because she made sure everyone got what was coming to them.

    Nice.

I happen to agree with the idea that they are nicknames for each other. I could see Val with either one. But I rather like the idea that she is “Captain Karma.”

Well, assuming this is taking place after that whole thing with Ice-hole, “Captain Karma” would be a very appropriate name for her.
