Sidekick Girl

Saving the City: Sans-Spandex

Oh, yeah. The fight's about to start.

Oh, power dampening.  How many stories would not have been possible without those convenient little devices to nullify the conflict-shattering effects of writing powered characters.

I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we hope so too, Val.

    So. Very. Much.

  • Roguewing on August 3, 2016 at 11:25 PM

    Definitely hoping he resists.
\He raises a hand to freeze her, and she’s gonna break it with her bat

  • Ashonai on August 4, 2016 at 9:35 AM

Yes, please for God’s sake start with the beatdown.

  • Jordan on August 3, 2016 at 1:40 AM

Considering how he’s reacted to her reciting the rules and regulations at him thus far, I’d say he’s not going to come quietly. Now excuse me while I got make some popcorn and settle in to watch Shiver get some of what he so rightfully deserves.

  • Ragingagnostic on August 3, 2016 at 5:00 PM

His code name’s not Shiver. It has been unofficially changed to Ice-hole and the change is fine by me.

  • MacDiver on August 3, 2016 at 9:14 PM

You have my agreement for that. I’ve been thinking that for weeks.

  • Tomy Ironmane on August 3, 2016 at 8:20 PM

Nah, Val will go straight for the Coup de Grace. She’ll let him ice her (but make it look good) just like he iced that guy with the talons. Now you have attempted murder of a sidekick, and a REALLY simple disciplinary hearing.

  • CptNerd on August 3, 2016 at 1:40 AM

Looks like SOMEBODY’s headed to Super-Villain Agency or whatever they call themselves.

  • bissek on August 3, 2016 at 7:48 AM

Which will result in him eventually returning with Isauro as his henchman, for additional conflict.

And I can see this getting spun out to cause outside heroes to believe that Val is hard on her heroes just like Illumina is hard on her sidekicks even though it isn’t really their fault in either case.

  • alurker on August 3, 2016 at 1:57 AM

Oh yeah. This gone be good.

  • Mujaki on August 3, 2016 at 2:26 AM

Even more than throwing punches… she gets to throw the BOOK at him!

  • Twitch on August 4, 2016 at 12:43 PM

    Great quip.

  • Moe on August 3, 2016 at 3:36 AM

    Hell yeah, Val!

  • Archie aka cptpatriot on August 3, 2016 at 7:10 AM

I look forward to seeing Val deliver his just deserts.

  • Black Rose on August 3, 2016 at 7:18 AM

I thought Val was going to go all ape-sheet on Shiver courtesy of Mr.Bat II…!

  • Ned on August 3, 2016 at 8:16 AM

So I guess the powerless spraypainted behind Shiver last week was a little bit of foreshowing. Only its that he’s powerless in the face of Agency rules. Well played Val.

  • JasonAW3 on August 3, 2016 at 8:36 AM

“Now up to bat, it’s Val aka “Sidekick Girl”! Here’s the wind up, and the pitch… It’s a home runn! It’s going, GOING, GONE!!! And be’s outta there!!!”

  • TGS28 on August 3, 2016 at 8:51 AM

    Headlining Metro City News tomorrow.

Disgraced “Hero” Shiver found with Baseball Bat inserted up his rectum.

His Sidekick commented that she found him like it in what she can only assume was a fisting session gone wrong. Both the Hero and Villain Agency have both refused comment as well as both refused to issue him a license.

  • Chris on August 3, 2016 at 11:05 AM

He’s definitely not going to “come quietly”. He’s probably going to ice her. I hope she’s wearing a body cam or a wire so the Hero Agency can know what’s going on.

  • J on August 3, 2016 at 11:59 AM

I have to wonder how many heroes they’ve got tailing this. Val acting by the book? I mean, I know she takes it seriously, but this starting to strike me as a sting against Shiver.

Which, you know, I’m totally fine with. Why have one person forcefully detain a perp when you can have a team of heroes and sidekicks bring down the loose cannon? I’m starting to suspect there’s a whole team just waiting in the wings.

  • hswoolve on August 3, 2016 at 3:02 PM

    Oh, my.
We have our carrot, and we have our stick. I think Mr. Shiver is going to go for the stick, myself (or at least, try avoid the carrot) and make forceful and repeated acquaintance with the stick.

  • Anarchyant on August 3, 2016 at 4:09 PM

I think you mean carrot and bat. His face is going straight for that bat at least.

    BEST. BIRTHDAY. PRESENT. EVER.

  • CheshireMadcat on August 4, 2016 at 12:54 AM

I’m thinking that her friends are near and when he tries to freeze her, Haze with get her out of the way, then it will be attempted murder on top of striking a sidekick. I know she can’t die, but it’s the intent that will get him in deep trouble. Also I don’t think the Villains agency will take him, as he has a habit of ignoring rules and as we have seen in the past, they don’t like that either. Though I think he will be put in jail, escape and come back for vengeance at a later time.

  • Caf on August 4, 2016 at 12:56 AM

    Oh, this is good.

This is going to be a long week.

  • David Johnston on August 4, 2016 at 3:53 AM

Frankly, I’m disappointed he’s making it that easy.

  • NightLillith on August 4, 2016 at 9:26 AM

Hah! Val’s giving him every chance to retain his factory-original parts and Ice-hole just doesn’t get it.

  • Kiatana on August 4, 2016 at 11:15 AM

My only worry is that when this is all over and Shiver gets his ass kicked he’s going to claim she attacked him first. Right now it’s the two of them so it’ll be the hero’s word against the sidekick’s.

  • Hitokiri Akins on August 4, 2016 at 1:56 PM

Considering that Agent Grey told Val to watch him so they CAN throw the book at him, I doubt they’ll take his words over her’s.

  • David Johnston on August 5, 2016 at 8:21 PM

That’s what he thinks, I suppose.

  • Brad on August 6, 2016 at 4:31 PM

    Night Night Shiver. Lights Out.

  • Sario on August 8, 2016 at 12:05 AM

About the poll: I don’t have the money to support a kickstarter, but if I did I would buy a henchman shirt. Hope that helps.

  • BC on August 8, 2016 at 2:46 AM

Can we see mockups of the intended shirts?

  • Sidekickgirl on August 8, 2016 at 6:34 AM

I could make one, but it will literally just be the word across the chest. White letters, the same font as the title, all caps.

  • Slaughter on June 18, 2023 at 6:23 PM

    PLEASE RESIST
