Man, I got almost to the end of the page before I realized I was meant to be reading those dialogue balloons as a back-and-forth exchange. Having them in completely separate panels with no connection at all is misleading.

Might I suggest having the balloons overlap the center panel division from both sides, encouraging readers to read down the centre instead of one panel at a time like comics have trained us to do for almost a century?

Or maybe having a zig-zag border between the frames would have helped — that’s a common convention for opposite sides of a phone call.
