Sidekick Girl

Saving the City: Sans-Spandex

We have decided to move to an every other week schedule from now until the end of the year. We’ve been struggling to get back to once a week on time comics with everything that’s been going on, between one or both of us on overtime, the season for our nonprofit ramping up, and general brain fatigue.  Because, you know, 2020.

There will be a comic this coming Wednesday (9/30) and then every other week after that, with filler during November as per usual.

Let's all have a moment to be jealous of how good this is. Srsly.

T never disappoints.

I don’t know if anyone has pointed it out, but certain words may have connotations beyond their basic meaning. “amante” while literally meaning “lover” may be somewhat stronger than “amor” (love) or “querido” (dear).

Admitedly, i’m speaking from a firsthand experience in portuguese, that is related but not quite the same and might be worrying about nothing…

Or it could be on the “perro caliente” (hot dog) x “perro caliente” (horny dog) level of connotation difference. THIS is a confusion i’m pretty sure does strikes native spanish speakers of different countries on occasion. 😛

This dialog was lifted from a previous in-comic page, so the mistake is mine, not T’s.

Yeah, what actually got my attention was that it wasn’t the first time i read it, though i could not remember the original comic page.
