  Maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t remember seeing her parents do anything to suggest they think she should try harder. The Closest is Mom’s “I suppose this is Quaint” line which was immediately followed by a “Sparse but Tidy” which suggests she doesn’t mind but may actually approve.

  They never once said anything about thinking Mack wasn’t good enough, but rather seemed genuinely happy to see her, calling her sweetheart and smiling.

  Even their line about her Brother, I’m of the opinion that Parents are allowed to be sad when one of their children is dead.

  Now maybe this is all happening, at the very least Mack thinks it is, but so far we only have her word to go on that her Parents don’t like her, and it all seems very “Informed Attribute-y” to me.

  We’ve been Told her Parents are Dissapoint in her, We haven’t been Shown that.

  Saying that Mackenzie is a disappointment is doubtless something they did a lot of when she was in school and starting out in her career…but not with an audience around. But in this case it’s what _isn’t_ said.

  The ‘rents compliment Val on her work
  Mackenzie says: We make a good team
  Mother changes the subject by bringing up Declan to her husband.

  WHy does she change the subject? Because she believes that they _don’t_ make a good team. She believes that Val does the work and Mackenzie takes the credit contributing nothing but the hero license. And Mackenzie knows _she isn’t wrong_.

  Why does that bring Declan to mind? Because thinking about how inadequate her daughter is brings to mind how great her son could have been. And Mackenzie knows that’s what she’s thinking.

  They don’t say a single word to Mackenzie in that scene. It’s all to Val and each other. They don’t politely lie about how they’re glad that the two girls make a good team. They don’t ask about what Mackenzie and Val have been up to. They don’t even mention the capture of Sparkle, and the capture of a traitor to the Agency is probably something they heard about.

  I’m guessing that they’ve gone past the point where they tell Mackenzie she needs to try harder or that they’re disappointed. They’ve written her off. That doesn’t mean that they aren’t glad to see her. She’s their daughter and they love their uselessly decorative daughter and are glad that she has a solid partner who will keep her safe and cover for her incompetence.

  Please excuse me if it’s already been answered.

  Sidekick Girl, she can heal superfast.
  Does that include her liver? Can she even get drunk?

  She can indeed get drunk. Just like how she can be wounded and then heals, she can be affected by alcohol and other toxins and process them out. she does have a higher tolerance than most people her size.

  the speed of her healing is based on how bad the injury is. When she was captured by the Doctor guy she was healing almost as fast as he was cutting but when her arm was broken it took a few days to heal.

  Her healing factor is kinda neat. It won’t let her immediately heal a papercut but sever an artery or three and they will heal practically immediately.

  Your right about us only having Mack’s word about that, but from the moment we were introduced to them Mack has been on edge. Practically defensive. We don’t see it, but there is the implication that this is a long running pattern of behavior.
  Do the parents mean well? I’m sure they do.
  But Mack has likely been compared (unfavorably) to her brother her entire life. It’s likely a hot button for her. And since Delcan is dead (that we know of), it adds a whole new set of complications. Delcan has likely been whitewashed a bit because people tend to disremember the flaws of the dead, while remembering their virtues. Add to the fact that since he isn’t here, she can’t since or do anything differently. She probably feels a bit helpless and trapped in the situation.
  Does that mean that Mack’s parents value her brother and his memory more than her? No. It doesn’t.
  But she probably feels that way.

  I just had a thought. Mack is superblond, her parents are both superblond, and the hair found by Val of the vigilante is superblond.

  Just started reading from the beginning, but I am now wondering if the Oh So Perfect Declan is actually the unlicensed vigilante.
