Saving the City: Sans-Spandex

Hey, guys, comic is going to be late today. My family has known for the last few days that our elderly cat is very ill, but we decided this evening when we're going to take her to the vet, and I haven't been able to concentrate.I'll have it up sometime this afternoon. -E

This is all going so well for our young… friends. Why do I have the feeling that something BAD will happen?
Oh, right! It’s an action & humor webcomic.

Man, I got almost to the end of the page before I realized I was meant to be reading those dialogue balloons as a back-and-forth exchange. Having them in completely separate panels with no connection at all is misleading.

Might I suggest having the balloons overlap the center panel division from both sides, encouraging readers to read down the centre instead of one panel at a time like comics have trained us to do for almost a century?

Or maybe having a zig-zag border between the frames would have helped — that’s a common convention for opposite sides of a phone call.
