    Hopefully, Our Val will listen carefully to everything Other Val says, go in eyes open, prepared to save a life *and* turn the Sudden Yet Inevitable Betrayal back on the Bad Guys. Whether Other Val is part of the Bad Guys remains to be seen. ^_^

    I’m leaning towards giving her the benefit of the doubt because Other-Val is filling Native-Val in on a lot of details (the scheme AND the motivations behind it!) that would require superscience shenanigans by a local good-aligned Doc Brown clone plus a lot of mundane police legwork to figure out. Other-Val has no real reason to reveal all these things; it’s well-established that Val is Genre-Savvy (and would be in any parallel), but she’s no Xanatos. If this is a Xanatos Gambit, it’s brilliant, because I can’t see how this exposition would help a truly villianous Val, or her team.

    Eh. We knew that every Val in every other reality the gang had visited was on Team Good. In retrospect it’s suspicious that only this Val breaks the pattern (which makes me wonder if the gang is suspicious of ‘their’ Val).

    Ooooh, I wonder if this “larger syndicate” is the Villain Agency of Alternate Val’s world, and it’s just getting started. We could get an alternate universe portrait of the early days of the Hero/Villain conflict.

    Hmm… assuming (which is a big assumption, I’ll admit), that other!Val is telling the truth, I’m guessing that the life in question is the window girl’s.

    Other Val is telling a half truth. She was a good cop, then she turned to crime, becoming. …… not-good Val!
