The serial numbers would still get you in the end even with a parallel universe with identical money. It would take a long time for them to notice it though.

Seriously, Diamonds? Diamonds are not really scarce. Get gold, get tanker trucks of oil. Look to Claw in Supervillainous and grab prescription drugs. That they get used up keeps you from flooding the market.

Ahh, but we only know that diamonds are worthless and artificially expensive in THIS world (upon which SG verse is based, so it’s the proper comparison.) Maybe where they’re coming from, they’re actually valuable. OR maybe they’re just as common, but the marketers have done an even better job of convincing people that they are precious.

Besides, we all know that the epitome of Comic Book Thieves tropes is the Jewel Thief.

Gold is very heavy and difficult to carry around in large amounts. This was a big reason for going to paper currency in the first place. Oil has the same problem, it is tough to carry around with you. As for prescription drugs, you have to be careful to whom you sell as I’m sure a jail term does not fit into the Window Gang’s plans, but also a turf war for selling drugs in some other gangs territory would be equally disruptive and they seem to be on a schedule. Assuming no issue with blood diamonds and thus no serial numbers etched into each stone, precious stones can be sold to any jeweler whom still does custom work. This is why stolen jewelry is so common. Take the stones out of the setting, melt the setting down and there are only a few stones that can be identified easily, and those simply need to be recut to be unidentifiable.

I can’t believe I didn’t come up with this one before. Six black suits, matching ties, distinct personalities, a clear goal, a big heist, but the clincher is they are going after diamonds next.

Val Upton, Dahlia, and all of the others who came through the window are ……

……. Reservoir Dogs: For A Few Diamond’s More.

It makes me wonder which one is which from the movie. Or ….. is this the mysterious other team we only heard about from Joe Tierneys character. In that case, who is Black, and who is Purple? And who has what other colors as a designation? And might they be a nemesis of the metallic villains in some way? My mind races in possibilities. …..

We’ll find out why they’re here and how the other Val would react to her doppelganger…!

Yeah though Diamonds are super common I imagine just like this universe the diamond conglomerates have built an artificial scarcity and prestige to owning diamonds which makes them by wieght a really easy money spinner for thieves.

That said im a little surprised they even bothered hitting a bank in a parallel dimension for money since something like that is almost guaranteed to vary at least a little making it worthless and banks can have anything from 50-200k in hard cash on site which isnt that good a haul given all the risks involved. In short you can make literally more just by raiding a few high end jewellry stores and thats assuming none of your team has superpowers.

Hahah I love how people keep assuming we’re doing homages to movies or shows neither of us have seen. It’s fascinating.

I suppose we should watch more things so we don’t rip anything off, but the idea of forcing myself to watch more Tarantino is…ugh.

As long as we’re speculating on who these people are, I’m going to guess that the emaciated blonde lady is alt-universe Mack. It seems like things didn’t go so well for her over there.

I promise I was not assuming that the creator’s of this comic are making this caper storyline into a homage to any movie ever created. I sadly have no one to nerd out with so I am nerding with all of you. I know from years of experience in life as well as fiction the consequences of assumption. It makes an ass out of me, you, and ‘umption’. I am just having fun thinking over the countless possibilities.

I saw the suits, my imagination started me singing “little green bag”. In my heart, I was just praying for a caper picture. I had also just finished re-watching both Ant Man movies. After that, I had my magic hammer, and all I could dream of was nails sadly. And of course, doppelganger showdown. 🙂
