Sidekick Girl

Saving the City: Sans-Spandex

I've never been to a party fancy enough to have waiters circulating with champagne. But it sounds pretty keen.

Welcome back to regular comics!

And I bet Icehole still thinks he’s in the right.

I remember Carol Burnett, talking about her role as Miss. Hannigan in “Annie” saying; “Nobody ever thinks THEY’RE the bad guy!”

Oh crap. I see Coldfire getting a new boss.

  • David Johnston on December 8, 2016 at 12:47 AM

    They do have compatible themes.

  • Mujaki on December 8, 2016 at 7:15 AM

No, no, no. Coldfire won’t be getting a new boss.
After release, the Icehole will be a brand new, freshly recruited villain.
So he’ll have to be partnered up with an experienced villain, to show him how it’s done.
    Yep.
    He’ll be…. a side-kick.

I think those are called “henchmen” for villains.

  • Mujaki on December 10, 2016 at 12:34 AM

“Henchman” implies semi-disposable uniformed minions, without any real distinctions. Thus, NON-powered. The Icehole has powers, and could become quite a villain in his own right.

Now, that said, forcing him to be a henchman for a week or two might be karmically appropriate, but it’s just not cost effective. If he stays in the henchman dormitories, he’s going to end up using his powers on his bunkmates. And good help, er, bad help is so hard to find these days.

And thats how you make a new villain who will have a carteblanche to use his powers fatally on every civilian that he meets this increasing his bodycount even more!Oh who am I kidding? That guy had the brains of a drunk Illumina and I imagine that Icehole will have a very fatal “accident” if he narks the Villains agency off enough with his dumbass hijinks.

  • David Johnston on December 9, 2016 at 2:59 PM

The Villain Agency seems pretty tolerant of stupidity. After all they put up with Coldfire’s first client.

  • CyberSkull on December 8, 2016 at 3:50 PM

Icehole shall hence be his name.

    “He’ll be…. a side-kick.”

    Dear gods, I hope so.

So throw a party and serve champagne.

At a recent family party, the welcome drink was probably not actually champagne but certainly was bubbly white wine. Most guys kept to beer afterward. This was an aunt and uncle’s 40 year anniversary. Fairly informal affair, just sports jackets and such. But it was fun seeing that part of the family again anyhow. Also: Bitterballen.

Looks like a tribute to a fallen comrade…

*That* would explain why they sent him to another city hoping he would be straightened out. Definitely not good to let a sadistic super leave your power.
I think he’ll have it out for Val.

  • Prince Charon on December 13, 2016 at 9:44 AM

Huh, so Val is a gadgeteer? Interesting.

The mood changed pretty fast at the end, there, but with a very good reason.

BTW, what holds the front of that blue (purple?) dress up? Angled wire? Starch? Bit of hose-like cloth in her flesh-tone so we can’t see going over her shoulder? Magnets? Something I’m too tired to think of?

Like She-Hulk’s undergarments, Haze’s dress is held in place by the Comics Code Authority.

  • FYI on December 15, 2016 at 5:11 AM

Dresses like that stay up by being tight at the waist and then boned or a stiff fabric above that. It is like holding a potted plant in one hand at the bottom instead of holding the rim with two hands.

A little double-sided tape on the inside never hurts, too.

  • Slaughter on June 18, 2023 at 6:40 PM

Funny, I was thinking something like that. The Agency probably didn’t get rid of Icehole because its better to have a superpowered asset on their side, which they can control, than giving that guy to the villains. But he was clearly too uncontrollable to be on the side of the good guys, so to the other side he goes.
