WAs some one listening to TAL and NYC lift of the ferret Ban.

Heh heh. That’s a funny coincidence. I didn’t know there was a ferret ban in NYC, much less that it was being challenged.

Metro City is kinda-sorta-little bit-Detroitish, though, not NYC, so we’re covered. Ferrets away!

    I laughed so hard

Heh, nice use of continuity there. I’d actually forgotten that bit of Val’s history. That said, Mr Ferret here does seem to be a fair bit smarter than Val seems to appreciate…or maybe the ferrets in general are just too smart to give the game away. Who can say? :p

An unrelated question, but are we going to see Illumina get a bit more competent with her powers? I appreciate that Val being the more competent of them in combat is kind of the relationship that they have, but I’ve looked back along the story, and…I dunno. It feels like there’s a (comedic) story about Val trying to teach Mack about how to use her own powers better, including such tales as Mack accidentally looking at her own super-bright-flash instead of closing her eyes. Something that could give her a bit more of an empowered stance in regards to her parents and how they regard her crime fighting abilities.

    Hmmm, fair enough.

That’s creative, having all the reporters with alliterative names ala Louis Lane. Clever.

There was also a strip where Val took over Mackenzie’s body and vice versa. Val showed a lot more versatility than Mac with the powers and showed she is a lot more powerful than she seems to think.

That’s what I was referring to, actually; we don’t get to see Mack fighting much, and though Val managed to figure out how to use Mack’s powers effectively, we’re never made privy if Mack herself discovered this. Though I highly doubt that Val would tell Mack to just figure it out herself (Mack has lived with her powers for her whole life and hadn’t figured it out before then) we can’t assume about what is happening off-camera, so we can’t assume that Mack managed to follow Val’s example. What I’m asking for is a bit of on-screen confirmation on this, or on some progress.

However, I do appreciate that the makers of Sidekick Girl have their own stories they want to tell, their own inspirations, and their own hiccups in real life that may not allow for this story to come into being. I hold nothing against them for that, and I am eager to see the next story that comes out regardless of what it is.

What I thought was most interesting in those strips was Val’s (mac’s) expressions. Val jumping off the roof and using the powers to float down instead of taking the fire escape was great. AS was her expression when Val used the powers to overload the ninjas senses and then tie them up. I get the feeling that those uses had never occurred to her.

I had wondered why in the world Val didn’t bother to investigate why a ferret would be snooping around their apartment with a camera strapped to its back. Even if an evil villain wasn’t involved, it could have been a sick sexual voyeur with a really weird modus operandus.

I love this page, but you kinda telegraphed the end with the last Christmas story!
