How cute! How long did you have Moxie?

That is so Golden behaviour. Love it 🙂

  • Sidekickgirl on January 25, 2017 at 7:34 PM

She was nine this past October. She’s half golden, and half border collie. Her golden side gets excited and brings us her toys when we come home. Her border side is afraid of everything that moves.

    “Heh. Is it The Chin?”

Fair bet now that Kirin is, in fact, blind.

It’s a fair bet on the other two parts, namely the vest and Val asking for permission before petting. Working dogs are off limits unless if permission is granted, even if they initiate (THE CHIN *thunderclap*), and Val really seems like the sort of person to know and respect that rule.

    Awwwwww.

Not all dogs go for The Chin. In my family they tend to go for The Imperious Paw, which, like The Chin, can mean (depending on context) “you should be patting/scratching me”, “you shouldn’t have stopped patting/scratching me”, or “you could share those snacks with me”.

  • Sidekickgirl on January 26, 2017 at 6:05 PM

Moxie also has a Paw, but it is not Imperious. It’s more like a “hey…hey…hey…” paw, where she will lightly tap your foot three or four times, pause, repeat. It usually means let me outside, while The Chin is for lovings and snacks.

She also employs Nose, in cases where the cats are being petted. She is jealous, and wants all the pettings, so she will horn in on any pettings, push the cats out of the way, and insert her head.

Does Moxie use any other moves to suggest “pay attention to me”?

What a pretty dog you’ve got!

Power-based sciences? Like there are entire branches of science based around the existence of superpowers? And Mack is good at them? This world is more different from ours than I thought.

Moxie is so cute! Both in comic and irl. Actually, especially in real life. <3

Sounds like her inferiority issues run all the way back to her early school days for her to prove that capable now but to have such difficulty with it before. Seems that while a difficult and painful experience the events with her brother proved extremely helpful in giving her what she need to grow as a person.

“Nobody ever told me I could do it!”
Think back to the body swap arc. ‘It’ was exploring and adapting simple powers. The biggest difference between Val and Mach at that point was Val has years of practice in creative thinking. Creative thinking is a bit different from critical thinking in that it’s the sum of your knowledge plus courage to make mistakes.

Mach, despite of her ‘dumb blonde’ persona, cared about pleasing her parents and peers. Mistakes meant disapproval, so she handicapped her sense of curiosity and avoided risks. No risks, no rewards.

    Moxie is adorable

Poor Mack. It sounds like she’s been in Delcan’s shadow pretty much all her life. It sounds like she and her abilities were dismissed early on and no one ever really took the time to help her grow. I am confused at how she could be bad at math in high school but a natural later in life though.

I’m actually angry for Mack. Her parents should have made an effort for her sake long before now.

It’s not that difficult to understand HakkyounoTenshi, the crippling doubts and Unfavorite status she suffered due to her parents praising her brother and looking down on her handicapped her ability to do pretty much anything and girls in particular are treated as if they shouldn’t even try being good at math as that’s a ‘boy’s’ thing. So she conformed to how they looked down on her and failed at Math and pretty much everything else until she was forced to rise up and overcome that her parents had weighed her down with.
