Giving him the “cold shoulder”… and arm, and hand.

Did, did Shiver just F*cking murder that guy? And after he’d already dropped the stolen goods when he hadn’t even hurt anyone? The Hell?!? (Being frozen solid generally kills people IRL, so I’m assuming that the talon handed robber is D-E-A-D Dead unless stated otherwise.)

    It’s not the first time.

    Interim X

Read back through the archives. Supers do not appear to be beholden to the same rules as you or I. He could be dead. That may be why he left the last city, for killing a guy who happened to have an ugly mutation and be in the wrong place.

I think that Val might have a slight problem with what just happened. Also, I’m hoping that Val will get to beat Shiver up at some point in time in the future.

    THE RETURN OF MISTER BAT.

So what’s next??? Should Val be wide eyed with her jaw down?

  • Moe on May 25, 2016 at 12:15 PM

I get the impression from panels 2 & 3 that this guy doesn’t know about there being superheroes in this city, or at all.

OK, it was The Hero. 50/50 odds, and I lost the coin flip. 🙂

Re Ice: Cartoon physics. Instant deep freeze is assumed to equal immediate (and perfect) stasis, easily reversible. Ignores the inabilty of mundane medical science to do so anywhere near that fast, or revive that reliably. Ignores the possibility of inhaling water as the ice melts and drowning, or asphyxiating because your breathing restarted before the ice surrounding your mouth, nose, and head was cleared away. Now, IF Shiver is killing black capes left and right… “Oh, oops, it was an accident!”, or “Oh, that shouldn’t have happened, the ER should have been able to revive that perp, it’s their fault.”

Such “accidents”, if they are happening, could explain why the west coast wanted to unload him, and also the lack of prosecution. He’s a HERO after all!

In this case, I expect that if the robber is dead (and he may well not be… it could just be a bad case of frostbite and hypothermia) that our ‘hero’ will claim he was threatened by those talons, which could be deadly weapons. He’s meeting superpower with superpower. It’s possible he’s used to a court system where he’s from that tolerates this kind of action from heroes.

It remains to be seen whether such action is tolerated in our fair city, though.

I’m thinking that this “robber” isn’t what we think. There was a box named silver behind the pawn guy, if this was really a robbery that box would of been taken as it most likely was silverware. I’m thinking he was robbed and his stuff was pawned there and he is getting his stuff back. This just doesn’t feel right.

  • CyberSkull on May 26, 2016 at 7:02 AM

    Oh, cold snap!

    I’ll show myself out.

  • Janet L. on May 26, 2016 at 4:33 PM

Somehow, I suspect the guy is a repo man for someone the pawnbroker owes money to. . . Like bail enforcement agents, sometimes their methods leave much to be desired, but they aren’t (usually) on the wrong side of the law.

  • David Johnston on June 1, 2016 at 2:06 PM

I think it was just a guy pawning his late parents stuff because looking freaky means he can’t get a job. The bag contains the stuff the broker wouldn’t take.

    …not good.

  • The passing critic on May 26, 2016 at 11:51 PM

This is why you dont wave two hands worth of knives at anyone to do with law enforcement,Good thing he met a hero rather than a couple of police officers with guns.Even if this is an misunderstanding his reaction was guaranteed to get a response like this.

Ahh, found this comic earlier today and now I’m all caught up. Crap!

Having a lot of fun with this, and can’t wait to see what happens next.

  • Sidekickgirl on May 29, 2016 at 9:31 AM

Welcome! And also: wow. Our archive isn’t as huge as a lot of comics’, but it’s still pretty speedy to get through it in one day.

  • Storel on May 29, 2016 at 2:37 AM

I doubt that the guy is frozen solid. Freezing something as large as a human all the way through would take way too long, and be pretty lethal to boot. It’s probably just a coating of ice all around him, thick enough to keep him from moving; half an inch of ice or so should be enough to keep most people from breaking out of it.

  • coriolis on May 29, 2016 at 10:22 PM

So, if he’s NOT in stasis, then asphyxiation is a very real possibility. No air in that body-hugging shell!

  • T'Renn on June 1, 2016 at 2:35 AM

I’m also assuming ice encasement. Which means that Mister Bat might get to save a life.
