I KNEW IT! She was bashing her head against a mental block, which brother dearest just smashed to bits! This will be AMAZING!!!

    YES! GO ILLUMINA!

(also I wonder if this is where she becomes Light and Val becomes Dark but whatever plot later cool things now!)

  • Black Rose on January 6, 2016 at 7:08 AM

Delcan is amazed that his sister is floating toward him!
Does Illumina look either hurt or betrayed or both?

  • Ragingagnostic on January 6, 2016 at 6:23 PM

Neither. She looks furious as HELL. I hope she stomps all over Declan with her pointy-heeled boots.

Yes, because the problem was always EVERYONE ELSE’s fault, never your own rashness, overconfidence and fragile ego issues in need of lashing out…

Guess what Phantom the Emo Drama, s**t hits the fan for everyone. Life goes on without you and people grow and change on their own. Some of that personal growth is about to walk you all over the fan as the s**t you are, right now.

She has a lot of hair!

I’ve been wondering for a while if Mack was subconsciously suppressing her powers, first because she was letting her brother take the lead, hero-wise, and after his supposed death to avoid overshadowing his memory. This would explain suddenly demonstrating at least one power-up the moment she gets so angry with him, and might not bode well for him if she suddenly starts busting out new abilities like a light-based Swiss Army knife. Sort of the way Dazzler suddenly one day figured out that with sufficient focus, sparkly lights become fricking laser beams.

This should be fun. *pops popcorn* *hands around bags-full*

Thanks for the popcorn! Hope I don’t finish it before Wednesday! (I am notorious for finishing my popcorn before the Coming Attractions even finish!)

  • Sidekickgirl on January 9, 2016 at 1:58 PM

I like eating the popcorn at the beginning because I like it better while it’s hot.

  • CaptRory on January 10, 2016 at 7:01 PM

That’s why you sneak candy in to munch on after the popcorn is cold and/or gone.

A mental block makes a lot of sense for Mack, not only out of deference to her brother but also out of low self esteem.

Think about what she says in the Family arc: Delcan had real power but that in regards to herself (and I quote from Family V) “Woo, Sparkly! Great distraction!” (by the way, that last panel for Family V is SO amazing. Seriously, it’s beautiful). She says that she graduated near the top of her class at Hero School not on her own merits, but on her parents. She also comments on how her parents are always telling her to do better and try harder, and they don’t seem to care about her own achievements (Tellingly they say NOTHING about Mack’s solo capture of the former-sidekick-turned-villain Sparkle, and Mack knocked her out with one punch). Mack also says that she’ll never stop trying BUT THAT SHE KNOWS SHE’LL NEVER SUCCEED. Mack genuinely seems to believe that she CAN’T contribute anything on her own. She even says when confronting Delcan that she “doesn’t know why, but [she’ll] be the one to stop [him]” when she’s the ONLY ONE who can resist his powers.

Also something else to note is that Mack defers to Val in pretty much all hero business. Aside from the name Sidekick Girl (which we don’t actually know how much Val protested. She may have bitched to her sidekick friends, but we don’t know if she’s said anything to Mack about it. Mack would probably let her change it if she knew she didn’t like it.), she’s pretty much let Val have free reign. Val chose her own costume (remember that Cyclone pre-approved costumes at the costume store for Jasper to choose from but when Mack had this ridiculous get-up she wanted Val to wear and Val refused, Mack gave in with barely a protest). Val comes up with the plans and as far as we’ve seen makes the decisions.

I think it just so happens that Delcan made Mack so angry that she doesn’t care about her (so called) limitations anymore. He’s trying to overthrow the Hero and Villain associations (and we don’t know WHAT HAPPENED to create them, why they’re considered better than NOT having them, or what kind of power vacuum destroying them would leave), demolishing the city, endangering civilians, threatening her friends, and he abandoned her family while refusing to accept any sort of responsibility for his own situation. She’s done.

I’ve put WAY too much thought into this. Can’t you tell?

  • Ragingagnostic on January 11, 2016 at 4:12 PM

It’s free “rein” not “reign”. So many people get that one wrong. Otherwise, no, I don’t think you put too much thought. I think it’s just enough thought. Pass that popcorn! I’m reading for Mack to open up that can of whoop-ass!

  • HAKKYOUNOTENSHI on January 11, 2016 at 8:29 PM

Whoops, sorry. Word check didn’t catch that one.

    Let’s order pizza too.

  • Ed Rhodes on January 12, 2016 at 11:45 PM

Well, spell check wouldn’t catch it because “rein” and “reign” are both real words.

    Is anyone adverse to sushi?

Looks like someone just took a spontaneous Level in Badass.
