Here ya go, sorry about the delay.
Oh crap- the Bitch Ray Effect is contagious!
Our hero w/ a heart speaks out…
I always thought the no-kill thing was just Batman. I never realized Val and Mack hadn’t killed anyone.
They haven’t, things have backfired on the villains and killed them, but Valerie and Mack have never taken a life themselves.
The no-kill thing is classic, standard superheroic. This is why you always saw bad guys come back – because the heroes were, and I quote, “Better than they are,” and killing them (the villains) would make the heroes, well, NOT better than the villains. This, of course, gave rise in the ‘Iron Age’ of anti-heroes/dark heroes who would kill, and did so with great regularity – ‘Deadly-Force-Using Vigilantes’ (DFVs) such as the Punisher, etc.
There really is a line there that’s tough to figure out where it should be, because it shifts from situation to situation. Do you capture the Joker or whomever, knowing that in three or six or eighteen months he’ll escape and kill again, many times, because you don’t kill ’cause you’re better than he is? Or do you finalize the bastard, because the justice system won’t put him to death and absolutely prevent him from killing again? (Well, in a world where death is permanent, anyhow.)
It’s tough …
It’s kinda hard for me to feel too upset about Dark-Val killing him when he just committed mass murder and animated their bodies as puppets.
She’s being an overbearing bitch, but that doesn’t mean she’s wrong.
I have to wonder how many of the dead BRVal knew.
Would I have capped his ass? Absolutely. And that’s why I am not a cop.
Cops are all about the people, the community. Justice. The Right thing.
Soldiers are more concerned with the rules, what the state wants. Order. Vengeance.
When I look at BRVal’s arm, that’s her dead she is wearing on her sleeve instead of her heart. Vengeance is probably all you can expect from her.
“Heroes” here seem a bit more like soldiers than police, and the rules and naming conventions seem to support that with no issues.
Rough place to be a crook.
C’mon, this guy would totally qualify for some sorta war crimes high court, and ain’t nobody got time for that. Darkval just wants to go back to her nap.
