Sidekick Girl

Saving the City: Sans-Spandex

Just how long WERE you in cryo, cranky pants?

Probably a good thing that its not our Val, or it would mean that our Val got hit with a serious bitch-beam sometime in the next 200ish years.

    It came with the tattoos.

Actually, the tattoos are Dark. She tattoos herself with her shadow.
Hopefully that clears up any further confusion on the matter and the comments can move on to other topics from here. Cheers!

    Pessimist…

    An answer is an answer.
It’s canon fodder now, pun intended.

Aw, man. This, just when I had developed my own explanation (see yesterday’s comments)! Oh well, canon is canon.

Looks like we may have a smackdown here!

Okay, I’ve gone through the comics, studied them very carefully, and I am left with one question; what has Val actually done in the storyline? Because all I’ve seen her do is ask questions and hit robots with a stick.

The Dark says Val’s job is done, but where did it begin? Our main character has been on the sidelines every since this story started!

Ever since, not every since. Stupid typos.

I assume her genetics are identical to Dark Val’s. It appears to have been necessary for a Val to be present for the Team to get into the Dark’s facility early. Genetic scanning perhaps, or a thumbprint scanner along the way… it was implied that Val was the key to getting them in but we really didn’t see exactly why or how.

You’re right. This week’s comic says exactly why you’re right. 🙂

I just started looking at the names on her other arm and looking at all the people who are presumably dead now. A lot of them come from the character list. This Dark Val already lost all of them. This is really, really depressing.

Why? This is the future of an alternate reality. Anything established as factual for the past timeline of this world does not necessarily apply to the main world’s timeline.

“You’ve done your part”? But she hasn’t done anything yet! Apart from help kill a few golems, but they didn’t really need her for that.

  • Shen on November 19, 2016 at 9:21 PM

So this is the Val from that alternate reality we’ve seen a few one-page comics about? The one with the list of how she can die?

  • Greywolf1963 on October 14, 2020 at 5:51 AM

I think we are seeing an unfortunate side effect of Val’s Superpower. Assuming those names on her arms are friends loved and lost while she continues on, imaging what that does to her. How long before the pain of watching those you let into your heart die convinces you to just stop caring about anyone. And if she has gone through this procedure before (especially if it has happened multiple times) she knows what questions are going to be on her alternate selfish mind.
