  You’re close. Dion can’t SEE. He never spoke aloud before because he chose not to, on account of feeling more comfortable with mind to mind communication, and a little bit shaky English. Since he’s dampened now, he HAS to talk out loud.

  I swear if the mass murderer winds up getting a legal slap on the wrist and becoming a hero again while the hero who abused his position for funsies got a permaban ill give up hoping that anyone in the heros agency has even half a braincell -_-;.Though I can understand why Dion did what he did theres some things that a hero shouldnt do and one of them is going full Punisher.

  @Sidekickgirl: Ah, OK. I just remembered there being some mention (which I’ve since located in Coroner VI) of Dion being unable to talk over the phone because he uses telepathy. Didn’t realize that it was more a matter of personal preference than actual constraint.

  @Thepassingcritic: I’m… a little confused by your thoughts. “Mass murderer” … “getting a legal slap on the wrist” makes me think of villain The Coroner who was the antagonist of his storyline. So between Poison, Coroner, and Shivver, we’ve got at least two characters to fit each description, although Coroner was never shown siding with heroes.

  But in any case, heroes are intended to _control_ situations, not dispense their own justice. Things like slowing or stalling ‘suspects’ long enough for the police to take over, that sort of thing. Playing the executioner role is a big no-no; even Shivver’s close calls are definitely over the line. I can empathize with Dion – I’ve got a sister just-about my same age – but the law has its requirements. (And said sister is an attorney; I wouldn’t even have any hopes about getting off any lighter than he did!)

  @thepassingcritic It looks like she’s visiting him, not trying to bust him out. Val is lawful good, she wouldn’t be there to prison break him.

  @Pastangum The coroner died super hard in that arc as Dions last(And definately most deserving!) murder victim so I fail to see how that could confuse you.In fact his death was so utter Val added it to her list of ways to very definately overkill her near perfect immortality.

  As for the whole Dion thing im likely jumping the gun but usually I see a character getting reintroduced as a sign that were going to be seeing a lot more of them so I automatically assumed the worst and figured somehow hes going to be let out the slammer after the shortest sentance for multiple murder ever handed out on some hero agency technicality.

  That said Pastangum Im REALLLLY confused by you applying Icehole to the title of mass murderer,Yes some have been said to have “accidentally” die on his watch but the guy definately doesnt have the guts to cut a swathe through the criminal population so I imagine that that number wasnt especially high and they mostly died to his incompetence with his powers rather than actual intent.(In fact one reason why Illuminas been gone so long is that shes now got a power that could easily hospitalise/kill people by accident so theyre very keen to make sure she passes that training legitimately unlike her getting her hero status which she largely got through unintentional nepotism).

  Shiver strikes me as the kind of guy who gets his jollys from sadistically scaring and harming people with his powers rather than killing them,Though if he wasnt reeled in at this point who knows how far hedve gone in the end?

  (Apologies for late response; I don’t get much time to comment on webcomics.) I may have been being dramatic, or misinterpreting or misunderstanding… Dion crossed the line to “mass” murder during his rampage seeking the Coroner, who himself had crossed the line MUCH earlier. A certain view of Shiv would say he misses that definition, mainly by the kindness of other citizens ‘rescuing’ his ‘immobilized’ victims (since a fellow citizen by the name of Val stepped in to liberate his most recent immobilization, and we’ve no definite answers before he came to Metro City). Myself, I’m leaning toward that viewpoint, but you’re still right. Where I was talking about law, I really should respect the law, and the actual definitions and terms used.

  In addition to my apologies about being delayed, I feel I owe you an apology, Critic. I need to be more careful when talking about ‘potential’ consequences versus ‘actual’ events.
