Sidekick Girl

Saving the City: Sans-Spandex

Not just postit notes anymore!

She seems a little unclear on the concept, doesn’t she?  Like, villains and heroes do battle all the time.  People get hurt.  The fact that yes, it HURT that he thwipped the mace out of her hand?  Not a revelation, yannow?

My only question is where she pulled that out of.

On second thought, I’d rather not know.

    My guess? Under the corset.

What, you thought I’d come up with something vulgar? 🙂

    So it’s a utility corset? =)

Something tells me she usually evades/escapes or is met by overwhelming odds and surrenders quickly, that she hasn’t ever been in a pitched battle. Illumina got rated as a hero on looks and heredity alone; Sparkle has the looks at least (under the shallow and biased system), so if she got rated as a Sidekick, her powers must be _really_ wimpy. Her going to pepper spray as a first resort evidences that.

In her former attachment as Illumina’s sidekick, Sparkle would have been called on to pick up the slack, which would not suit her (apparently) low-level Power, not to mention go against her (apparently lazy) grain. I don’t doubt that villians got away from that pairing. Sparkle probably did Illumina a favor by doing a face-heel turn.

In general, certainly Illumina was better off without her, but leaving her at the exact moment that she did (while Illumina was bleeding and apparently in the field) was terrible timing. Petty she may be, but the main characters are quite justified in their hostility.

Welp, I imagine that Sparkle is in for a reality check on how dark the world can be.

Shake-up Mace? Man, she must have either bought the really cheap stuff or not have ever used this before.

Modern pepper spray doesn’t separate, hence it doesn’t need to be mixed like hairspray. The classic Mace recipe is also weak versus the new capscaicin blends. This means more burning and no ‘shick-shick’ warning.

Sparkle, your self-centered shalown foolishness knows no bounds…
A MINIMUM of sense would have told how in over her head she was.
Seriously, only thing separating her from being laughable small fry
failures is the petty personal antagonization of the main characters.
    Time for a reality check.

Even Illumina has more sense than this moron.

Ugh… this strip is black and blue and read all over….

    Sorry… I had to say it. 😛

  • Sidekickgirl on March 10, 2015 at 5:03 PM

So if this is meant to say “…and RED all over,” that’s all fine and dandy, cuz that’s the saying. And her red lips really ARE the only colors other than black and blue on this page (except her skin.) BUT…if it truly is supposed to say “…and READ all over,” that is EVEN BETTER, because it is black and blue…and you read it over…and…and…PUNTASTIC!

  • The Auld Grump on March 11, 2015 at 9:30 PM

    No, definitely read….

  • The Auld Grump on March 11, 2015 at 9:31 PM

The old joke is ‘a newspaper’ – black and white and read all over – the pun is less apparent when spoken.
