Umm….did she just out Val in front of an audience?

  • Arcanist Lupus on August 9, 2017 at 7:45 PM

And Val is so careful with her secret identity, too. Her cunning costume makes her totally unrecognizable!

Sarcasm aside, you make an excellent point. Secret identities are a thing here, even if Val treats hers casually.

This is the girl from the Robomigos club at her old high school that asked if she was Sidekick Girl, right? Then Val denied it awkwardly. That’s come back to haunt her. Heh.

Also, as a sidekick her “secret” identity is printed on her hero card, so the public can find out Val’s identity if they really want to.

Thanks. Part of my brain is still stuck in Worm, and it’s been a while since I saw much of this ‘verses rules on ID.

It took me a bit to realize that Val turned down money in the first panel. Squeeeeeeeee! Sorry, can’t get over the kid’s cuteness!

Oh I thought she was telling him to keep the pen at first. Good eye.

How did they achieve that paisley pattern for that headscarf???

  • Sidekickgirl on August 11, 2017 at 5:06 PM

Lay down base color, find pattern in black and white, place on a new layer, cut out the white bit, lock empty pixels, adjust color of pattern, stroke the layer to get the secondary outline, select area of base color, inverse selection, cut out extra pattern bits, done.

Val’s power is not dying and healing, does her blood heal other people?

  • Sidekickgirl on August 14, 2017 at 4:33 PM

Nope. Not transferable in the least.

Umm, is it a party foul to call a continuity foul on the author? Because I think I might need to call a continuity foul on the author for that comment. Specifically, I remember that The Coroner was able to isolate Val’s healing abilities to some compounds in her spinal fluid, and he was able to gain her power by injecting it into himself. Hence his surviving Dion’s initial attack from behind with the four swords, and needing to be telekinetically disintegrated in order to be killed.

Now, I know the original Villain contest entry for the coroner also stated that he had some sort of undead thing going on with himself due to an accident with electricity and formaldehyde IIRC, and its effects were never fully explored or explained, so I suppose that could be the X factor that allows the transferred fluid to still be active.

One possibility is that the fluid is only responsible for the healing, and only works if you already have something else that is stopping you from dying. In the case of the Coroner, it could be the formaldehyde undeath that enables the fluid to work, and in the case of Val it is something else that The Coroner didn’t find, and indeed didn’t even look for, because the fluid worked on him the first time he tried it, and he never tried testing it on anyone else, so he assumed that was all there was to her power.
