“We figure you are the closest thing to an indestructible superhero we have ever had.”
“Why do you need someone who is indestructible?”
“You haven’t seen what was left of the others.”

    agreed. She can’t die.

    And he can’t use her.

So…in this world does indestructible = immortal? Or will she still age, and be an indestructible OAP?
I’m guessing no to the immortal bit, else she would already be there in the future world.

I always assumed she ages, but simply can’t be killed by ‘non-aging means’.
I suppose this leaves open the possibility of being aged to death by a supervillain, but how many of those time twisting !$#$ers can there be?

Part of it could be the inherent paradox- she ‘disappeared’ X years ago, so they went back to ‘before she disappeared’ and are the cause of it.

But, there are also the usual practical means of shuffling off someone who can’t die.
    1. Drop them into the depths of the ocean. Once they get past a certain point they’ll be taking constant damage from the pressure, and will likely be in so much pain they can’t walk… plus, the fact that the bottom of the ocean tends to be silt and muck means they’ll just sort of sink in.
    2. Bury them in a supervolcano, if you have a powerset that lets you do it, and nobody else will dare risk trying to get the trapped immortal out of it. Technically they’d float on the lava, if it was an open volcano, but if you stick the unfortunate victim into something like the Yellowstone volcano, which isn’t actually accessible, then drilling it open to retrieve her results in a big kaboom that levels half a continent.
    3. Simplest of all, since Val doesn’t have superstrength, just dump her in concrete and don’t tell anyone where you stuck her. Even better, dump her in concrete, then toss her into the depths of the ocean somewhere. If you’re worried about X-ray vision or somesuch, dump her inside a vat of lead, then dump her. You get the idea.

Heck, you could even just toss her into space. Finding and retrieving her would be similarly impossible, even if she could survive. Launch her into the sun for funzies, or if you want her to have a while to write her memoirs before she’s trapped, a trip to one of the gas giants will do as well.

Being functionally immortal would be imbued with far more suck than one might think… especially if you’re the only one who is- you’ll get stuck places where nobody else could survive getting you out, and then you just go mad in pain and solitude.

Anyway, as always, enjoying the comic, and I’m looking forward to seeing how all this pans out 🙂
